Toms intro to the media industry started when he won
a photography competition at about 8yrs old, back in the days when
film was still used, after a school trip to the Isle of Wight.
This led to an interest, which bloomed into a decision to get some
formal training. Tom attended Brunel College of Arts & Technology
in Bristol before going to Plymouth College of Art & Design attaining
top marks on a degree equivalent Media Production course.
After college days ended Tom headed for the big smoke to set about
his future empire. At the time the market was crying out for web designers
and having a great eye for design coupled with his technical ability
and fairly newbie knowledge of the web Tom became a web designer.
This carried on for about 6 or 7 years and Tom ended up working not
only in London but also a stint in Sydney, Australia too.
On returning to London, Tom decided that the web wasnt the ideal path
for him and wanted to get back on track in the TV and film industry.
After a few DVD freelance projects and a steep learning curve he soon
got work at Designlab where he flourished quickly and was soon editing,
designing, compositing and authoring a wide range of DVDs, many of
which have been released and sold in huge numbers.
Of course Tom would not be happy unless he felt that he was moving
forwards and progressing, so after Designlab, alongside Jim he set
up a new company (DARE) and is now working hard at making this new
venture mature.
